Musicman Stingray hidden pickup?

The guy didn't need to rewire it, they are all wired that way from the factory. He just bought a custom pickguard that allowed him to bring the pickup up by the strings so he could hear it.

Stingray HS - humcancelling third coil hidden under the pickguard.
Sterling HS - humcancelling coil is under the neck single coil (it's a stacked humbucker)
Bongo HS - humcancelling coil is a small round coil in the control cavity

i thought it was called a phantom coil

Dummy coil = phantom coil

Entwistle is famous for having a dummy coil in his explorer basses

The one in the middle

I did not find anyone explaining how to combine a 3 coils pickup to an original Ernie Ball 3 blade switch without using the original preamp. However, this is possible and I have developed an insertion scheme. I do not know if I will get results I still have to try directly with a John East 3 Band preamp. If it works I will divulge it, otherwise I would like to avoid fooling. But if you like to make some experiments, I'll gladly take it for you.

the middle pickup is a dummy coil pickup
to cancel hum from the single coil pickup

basically the guy rewired the bass so it imitates the HH Stingray
Personally if you want 2 humbuckers it would be easier to just get a HH Stingray
kinda defeats the purpose the a HS model by modding into a HH
IMHO

Get fact straight before talking "oh I am such an expert" bullcrap. I have an HS here and it comes like that from the factory. No rewiring, no nothing.
