This whole argument is ridiculous....there's no hard line in the sand that determines if a song is "real music" or not. Keep patting yourself on the back for being the spokesperson of real music if it helps you get through the day.

Maybe they did it because it served the song? It is, after all, THEIR music (or idea of it)

Full disclosure, I'm not a fan of it but I have thought that it is useful for those that can't carry a tune in a bucket, but still have something musical that they want to share. It's not my cup of tea, but I know what it's like to need to play and share music. If I understand that, I'm less likely to degrade it or dismiss it. In fact, I respect it.

Actually, I think what I said was "trying to stretch boundaries." And if you're going to use Wikipedia as a souce, at least quote it accurately: " The flamboyant costumes and visual styles of glam performers were often camp or androgynous, and have been connected with new views of gender roles." In other words, they were trying to stretch boundaries.

it shows a lack of consistency. Now that we've mutually observed that, what does that truly say for talent? Talent is not simply ideas.

oh believe me, I'm sure my crap will not be nearly as shimmery as what anyone else has done, except unlike lady gaga I won't have to look stupid wearing a bunch of designer outfits that make zero sense.

We have mutually observed nothing of the sort. You say lack of consistency, I say flexibility and experimentation. :bassist:

As for what it truly says for talent, I don't know. I'm not a judge on "XXX" Idol or "XXX"'s Got Talent. I'm just a potential customer with an open mind and an honest curiosity.
