Mustang RI Question

I got a sweet deal on a Mustang RI today, and I just realized I've never seen the tortoise p/g on the red finish model, which mine has. Did they come that way, or could mine be one that was added ?

Also, anyone have a link to where I can check to see what year mine is by s/n ?

According to Fender's website and catalog, tort is on the Vintage White body and White Pearl is on the Red body.

It's most likely it was changed. The pickguards are readily available in the 'net.
