MXR Bass Envelope Filter sensitivity

I just got one of these and I'm noticing that while I have the sensitivity full on, I need to man handle the bass in order to get the envelope to fully open. The bass I have is a jazz bass with Aguilar OB-1 preamp and Aero single coils and I'm not using any other pedal before the envelope filter.

Is there anything within the MXR filter that will enable me to make it even more sensitive that it is?

Thanks.

I noticed it on mine also. I have a Gibson RD Artist, which is active, and I have to turn the sensitivity knob 3/4 of the way up, whereas with other filters in the past I have had to turn the sensitivity knob down due to the hot circuitry of my bass.

Do you have an overdrive pedal? I found a slightly hotter signal into the pedal opens it right up. Gives quite the WHOMP too!

Thanks for your response. While I know your idea works, I'd like to keep it simple and just plug my bass into the pedal. That's why I was wondering if there's a way to increase the sensitivity internally but all I saw was a circuit board.

Any other thoughts out there?

Are your pickups really far away from your strings? You could try raising your pickup height a little bit to get a bit more output from your bass. That's all I can think of. Have you emailed MXR about your problem? I've never had to but the word is they have an excellent customer service department. Good luck.
