MXR envelop filter frustration

I just got an MXR Envelop Filter. Because I have a very light touch, even with sensitivity set to max I have to really dig in to get that wah sound.

I played around with all the other knobs for an hour but "digging in" seems like the only solution when I finger pick (of course, if I use a pick, I get a massive funky wah tone).

I don't have this problem with the auto-wahs of my Korg PD4X and Digitech BP-80.

Am I doing something wrong with the MXR?

Well an Auto-Wah and an Envelope filter are two different executions of the same idea. Part of the difference is that an Auto-Wah doesn't depend on attack, IIRC.

With any Env. filter, you've got to learn to play it, and I'd be willing to bet the MXR is no exception.

Responding to a very old post here. I am having a similar problem, and did a search, and found this. I just got a Mooer Envelope Filter autowah, and I have a very light touch, and I have to dig in like crazy to get any wah sounds. In my case, I am using a wall wart, not a battery (the Mooer doesn’t have a battery compartment). The wall wart did not come with the pedal. I think it is a match. Any suggestions?

Is this at any setting, or just messing with the sensitivity? I've had issues where I thought I hadn't tripped the threshold, but had actually buried it and just had a locked filter tone.

When I'm looking for the sweet spot, I'll turn the q or resonance all the way up, and then pluck an open string while tweaking the sensitivity until I hear the effect get more pronounced and then fine tune while I play lines. If you've done something like that I can only suggest trying a boost or something in front of it to try to get the volume up and confirm you need more input.
