MXR M288 (Bass Octave Deluxe) vs 3Leaf mini Octabvre high register tracking

Hi guys,
I'm looking around for an octave effect with a very specific aim: using it 100% wet, 1 Oct down, to get that synthy OC2ish sound (audio example attached)



I'm aware of the Boss OC2 quirks and I'm not necessarily looking for an exact clone, but something that'll get me there.
Also, thanks to SARS-CoV2, at the present time, out of the numerous effects that can give this vibe, I'm basically down to either the MXR M288 (BOD) or the mini Octabvre.
Which one, if any, has the quickest and most consistent tracking up in the G string high register? I've read somewhere of MXR glitching when doing octave passages involving the G string. Mind you, the mini Octabvre costs 100€ more.
Or, shall I just wait more and get an MXR M280 (VBO)?

Fender Mustang JMJ --> Polytune Mini --> Darkglass Hyper Luminal --> Darkglass Alpha Omicron --> TC Electronic Spark --> Tech21 Q Strip

The MXR BOD Growl knob is pretty much an OC-2. So dial out the Girth. It's a little brighter than an OC-2 but I suspect that the OC-2 has a low pass filter that cuts out the highs on the wet signal. It can get you very close to what you are looking for and it's also a true bypass and has more input headroom than an OC-2 has. I used one for years and I've A/B it against several OC-2's that I've owned over the years and the MXR stood the test of time for me. However....these days, I'm using a Source Audio C4 which has some phenomenally good OC-2 community patches available on the Neuro app.

I'm glad to read your positive experience with the pedal. I thought the same after hearing some demos: it has the same vibe, with a touch more mid-high mid content, which could even be a good thing.
Granted that any analog Octaver will have some difficult time tracking the lowest notes, did you have any particular tracking issue when playing higher up on the neck?

Actually nevermind the MXR pedal for a minute...I've listened to some SA C4 patches (including an OC2 one) and it sounds just rad. I could fine an use for the remaining 5 patches, too. And, it is available from Thomann.

I have an OC-2 patch in my 1st patch that also has a filter. So voice 1 is an OC-2 sound, Voice 2 is a filter. I can blend wet / dry OC-2 mix using the mix control. Wet OC-2 volume is set to Control 1. Input is set to the input volume (so I don't clip). Control 2 is set to my filter voice and the filter sweep is set to my external expression pedal. I could disable the sweep and set the control 2 to the speed if I wanted to. What this patch offers me is an OC-2 octaver (blended or fully wet) and / or a separate filter. So I can dial out the OC-2 voice and leave only the filter. It's like multiple patches in one patch.
If you just want filters and octaves, then the slightly cheaper SA Spectrum Intelligent Filter covers that. The C4 adds a synth, fm synth and step sequencer on top of that list in the SIF.

How's the sound quality of the octave? Do you miss anything from your analog pedals?
