Ive owned a mxr80 for more than a year now, i mainly use it as a preamp. What does the phantom/ground switch and 'parallel output' inlet do? (I bought it used, didnt come with a manual)

mxr m80 quesitons. phantom /ground switch?

parallel output is just that, it's giving you the same signal you're putting into the input jack- no effect or tone control.
The ground lift will eliminate ground loops (hum) should you have that problem. Phantom power is used to power condenser microphones.

ic, thanks for the explaination. But would u mind elaborating what situation would be suitable for say the parallel output?
also, will the ground lift remove single coil hums?
also, dont u tink its abit wierd a bass di box would come with a 'bonus' application for mics?

I believe the phantom/ground switch connects/disconnects the ground wire of the xlr output and with the ground wire connected, phantom power (if supplied by the mixer) will power the pedal.
The ground lift will not remove single coil hum but it may eliminate a noisy ground loop by lifting the ground or cut noise by grounding the box and shielding the circuit.

Phantom power from the DI line can power the unit. If there's no phantom power (or you don't know), leave it in the ground lift position. This will lift the ground from your send to the DI.

Parallel out is for sending an unaffected signal. It allows you the option of choosing if you want to send a processed signal to both your amp and to a mixer, or just to a mixer.
Ground lift is for removing hum that occasionally comes with connecting it to a mixer.
