MXR M87 pop/slap settings

Hi, recently I bought Diamond and MXR M87 compressor pedals, but need little help with finding proper settings as these are my first compressors.

I use Diamond for fingerstyle, with a tiny bit of compression and EQ bypassed, and I plan to use M87 for slapping. My slapping technique is fine, sound of my rig is great with no EQ at all, but my slapping dynamics isn't that good so I need (I think) a bit (or more) of a compression, to level the peaks. but I don't know how to set my M87.

My live rig: active bass - compressor - Di box - FOH/stage amp

any help would be appreciated

thanks!

thanks! what about those attack and release knobs? is there some general value for slap, or at least value to start with? I have read your FAQ, but my rig is in warehouse 50 miles away, I have only onboard sound card+headphones at home, and can not hear much difference.

Cool! gonna try it on soundcheck. Just one more thing. As I'll use two compressors in series (MXR after Diamond or reversed, not sure what's better), is it ok to switch on MXR when slapping, without turning the Diamond off?

Diamond is being set on very low compressing.

thanks!
