MXR Mini ISO Brick power supply problem, loose connection fix

So I can’t believe I didn’t think of this sooner.

Like many others, my Mini ISO bricks power adapter fits way too loose in the brick itself. It needed to be handled with kid gloves at gigs so as not to lose connectivity. Searched the internet for a solution but didn’t find one that was “pro” enough.

and some more zip ties and mounting bases to do this.

First, ran the Godlyke extension from the brick up through the top of the board.
My brick was mounted to the back underside of the board so I was able to position the right angle plug up against the back of the board for a nice tight, secured connection.

Then I just ran the jumper up top through two of my pedals, closest to the back middle of the board, cut out some Velcro and zipped it down. I could’ve mounted it anywhere, but this seems to be the most easy access place on my board.

Took about 10 min and works great. No more worries about power at a gig.

Hope this helps out to those looking for a cheap and easy fix.

heh, didn't know, it's a common problem. in fact I bought a mini ISO brick with the same problem, but quickly returned it into the store. my other mini ISO brick is good and is not developing the same problem for several years I have it (I got it quickly after it was announced).

glad that you found a solution! now I also know what to do in case my mini ISO brick will have this problem.

When I was looking to buy my Becos, I read about that fix for their pedals. I looked at giving it a shot with the supplied Dunlop PS that the brick comes with, however you can’t cut away to make it longer because the barrel is as far back as it goes on the 90 degree connector.

I even thought about modding the power supply but figured this mod was simpler.

Unfortunately I had redone my board once again, and don’t have the mini iso brick anymore, however the pics I posted and the description given should hopefully help you out some.

Why'd you move on from iso brick? Is it that bad or you just need bigger power? I want that because that check all the boxes of what I need

I have moved to a IEM board for all my gigs. I have 2 SushiBox FX pedals that require more than 300ma to power.

The mini iso has one 800ma port and the rest are 300ma, so I needed another supply to accommodate the power requirements for tube pedals.

Here’s what I use now.
