My 2x10's sounds muddier and more undefined than my 1x15

Hi,

I truly don't think this is right but my ashdown mag 210T sounds muddier and more undefined than my 1x15 also from ashdown. the 2x10's has a tweeter(just in case it helps somehow).
Any ideas why this happens?

The belief that 115s are better for lows and 10" speakers are for highs is a myth, as illustrated here. Judge the cabinets on their sound, not looks or size of drivers.

I perfectly see what you mean but I know there must be something odd with this cab. I've listened to the exact same model from other users and mine just doesn't sound the way it should. Therefore, what could be wrong?

Do the battery test on the cabinet to ensure the drivers are wired with the correct polarity. If they are not the cabinet will never sound good.

Have you EQ'd to the box? Roll of the bass and boost the mids? Might just be a boomy cab and others have adjusted their settings accordingly.

Battery test

Apply a 9V battery across your speaker cable. The cones will move in response. Usually with the positive terminal of the battery connected to the tip of the cable the cones should move out away from the magnet structure. All the cones in all your cabinets should move the same way.

Battery test: plug a speaker cable (1/4" connector kind) into the cabinet. On the other end of the cable, touch one pole of a 9-volt battery to the tip, the other pole of that 9-volt battery to the sleeve/shaft, and make sure both speakers in the cabinet either pop out or in together - they should both move the same direction or they are wired out of phase (opposite polarity). This would make that cabinet sound thin, undefined, and bad.

If you use multiple cabinets, carefully repeat the same test with your other cabinets: touch the same poles to the tip and sleeve (whichever way you did it with the 1st cabinet) and make sure the speaker(s) move(s) the same direction as the previous cabinet's speakers. This makes sure all of your cabinets are in phase with each other.
