My 77 Jazz Bass.. I am torn...

I broke it out and played it yesterday.. I am going to take it to the shop to get it worked on and setup.. even if I keep it I want it playable.. the rear pup doesn't work for some reason.. Could just be a broken wire... Thanks for all the great advice.. it definitely gives me a lot to think about..

I was thinking in terms of why keep it if I will not be playing it.. but I like the idea of asking a bit more cash for it..

Why NOT keep it? You like it - it's paid for - and you have an attachment to it. Those are all decent reasons for keeping it.

Best idea here. Maybe a great setup, some new strings, and the fixed PU will revive it all together for you. Nothing plays as fresh as a recently set up instrument, especially if it's an old jazz bass.

I'd bet you'll be really happy you did this.
