My Band at Practice

There are a couple of instrumental tracks listed on our mySpace. We recorded these in our practice space (a storage unit with sound proofing on the walls) with a Korg D4 and two microphones in the middle of the room - one for the guitars, and one for the bass and drums. Besides the apparent mistakes made on the tracks, and the quality of the recording, I would like to know what you guys think about them.

It sounds pretty freakin' good for 2 mics in th middle of a room. I don't think you need a singer.A sampler for some interesting little quotes and noises here and there would sound cool instead of vocals.

To be honest I thought the bass in Facial Abuse kinda didn't match what the others were playing. The distortion guitar introduced at around 1.15 really didnt beling there either. Texas however, was awesome. Great job on that song.

The mixing is terrible, but I fully understand why. Been-there-done-that with recording full band at the same time Makes it impossible to set frequencies that's not clashing for each instrument.

nice creative flow, drummer is a maniac, hints of Mars Volta and Don etc, good use of dynamics, effects, guitar and bass interplay, you guys basically latch on to the drummer and hope you can hang on, very cool

I cant offer anything other than to say keep doing what your doing but do get your recording situation together
you are good enough where you should step it up, research DAW, mics, mic preamps, recording techniques, drum mic placement etc, it will pay off big time

Any more comments on the bass playing? This is a bass playing forum. What are your thoughts on Facial Abuse. The intro bass line for example. Any suggestions on what could support the song better? What about Texas? Do you guys feel my bass playing is "too busy" in parts? Thanks for all the replies.
