My bass dropped on its side

Heya, a new-ish bassist here. A worrying event happened as I accidentally placed my bass against the wall at a weird angle and slid off onto the left and landed on the tuning pegs. The biggest concern is that the floor is marble. Picked it up quickly, played a few notes and found that all of the first to third frets played very buzzy notes that are unrecognisable and the rest had worse fret buzz than before. The G string is in the worst condition, playing the buzziest notes. What do I do? Could I save it?

I would start by checking the nut to make sure it didn't detach from the bass.

It's difficult to diagnose without seeing pics. It might just need a small truss rod adjustment. It's also possible the neck could have shifted a bit from the impact. These are both minor adjustments. If you're relatively new to bass, take it to a qualified tech.

Yes, but did you loosen the strings and check to ensure the glue is still holding tight?

I have to ask, just since youre new; did you tune it again after the drop?

Eesh! Sorry to hear that. I second the advice about getting a tech involved. Hope it can get straightened out for you. (please excuse the pun)

I’t king of hard to venture a guess from here, but I would suggest the check the neck/pocket, tuning gears. I’m also assuming you have the bass tuned to pitch. Sorry for the mishap.

Did the pitch go flat after the fall? If so, check the neck screws are tight and nothing cracked around the screw threads.

Take it to a guy, or lady. It’s called paying the idiot tax. Trust me, I do it regularly! If you aren’t experienced at all working on instruments you are more likely to make it worse.
