My Bass Is Too Heavy Now

I've found that weight and tone go together. That is merely my opinion and other may have a different opinion. Tone is subjective.

Put the tone monsters like and Alembic or a Warwick always seemed to be a bit on the heavy side.

I suspect that someday we'll all be sitting around the Old Bassist Club play "Beatle Basses".

My "Tele Bass" was made from MDF, only the neck is made from pure wood. I'm also going to put a small bridge, and I think it would be as heavy as a jumbo acoustic.

I played recently a strat made of MDF, and to me the tone wasnt bad. Plus if you use active electronics, then the body material is not important.

Because of all the glue used in MDF, it has the potential to be heavier than wood.

My Spector Rebop weighs in at 8lbs (5 string) and has an amazing tone.
