My Beat Up Geddy

So, back on New Year's eve, 2005 into 2006, I went to my local Guitar Center and bought a bass I had my eye on - my Geddy Lee Signature bass. Love it. Have loved it for, gee, 5 years+. I took a look at the wear and tear it's taken and it struck me that with the pearloid guard I put on (before I saw Geddy do it!) it looks more like a real Geddy than a new one!

(I must admit, I added the faux screw holes for a bridge cover that never existed to add to the look that has taken shape...)

Correct. His '72 neck had been re-fretted & adjusted so many times, it would no longer hold adjustment. The maple with pearloid block neck shown here is from the Fender Custom Shop, added shortly after the 2nd leg of the S&A tour.

Hopefully this will carry over to the Geddy sig. Awesome bass, but pearl blocks look killer on that bass.

Did no one like my joke? :bawl:

Yeah that neck is a Fender Custom Shop made to his specs, and he ordered pearloid just to switch things up a bit I think. It's very cool looking to me! It'd be cool to see that on the Geddy for sure. :D

Love the body's "satin" finish look

Thanks. It started, honestly, as me trying to work out one of the scars. It failed to work out the scar, but it started to give the bass a whole new character, so I went with it. I LOVE the way it feels. It is smooth and I don't "stick" to it at all like some others on a hot summer outdoor gig...
