I have a couple bows that i'm happy with. I have some questions about them as i bought them both second hand up here in Sweden and the place i purchased them wasn't too helpful with details. I play Jazz and solo a lot with the bow. First: (i'm attaching a photo please forgive the bad quality) one bow is longer than the other and has a narrower frog. What are the stated advantages of one design over the other? One has black hair and one white hair. The white hair seems to dig in better with less tension on the bow. What are the experiences of others with differences between black and white hair? Which is generally preferred for which type of playing and why? Secondly: where and how would i go about finding some info on where these bows were made? Neither have any identifying markings on them. Most bassists up here play French so it is very likely that these bows were made up here.
