My Brubaker JXB-6

Thanks... you really have to hear this thing IRL or better yet play it. At gig levels it's pretty impressive. The single coil mode nails the 70's Jazz vibe I was after, then the dual coil modes are like a Jazz with a battering ram. A very articulate battering ram.
:D

Sweet bass, Brad .... loving the look of it!

Tone is a little too bright for me based on the video clip, but knowing the character of the pups and preamp, I'm sure that could be eased back a bit. One thing the clip does show is the clarity of tone and clear note placement, even at the nose-bleed speeds your friend plays it ....

In other words, another simply wonderful Brubaker .... :D

Congrats, man ...

+ a million. The clip sounds great and of course Malcom is an amazing player but you have to hear this thing live (or at least recorded really well) to REALLY hear how awesome it sounds!

Thanks, Ed. I'm planning on going to the next GTG and get some hands on feedback on it. Should be interesting.

There's some real heft IRL going along with the clarity, even on the upper strings. Reminds me of my Anthony jackson in that respect. That really balances the sound and it's not as bright as it might sound in a clip. Matter of fact I'd bet Malcolm had the treble set flat... his camera just doesn't pick up the lows and low mids as well. With the NTMB preamp you can dial in even more highs. Or bump the mids and give a rig a serious workout.

I really can't decide whether or not to buy a Brubaker or have someone make me a bass with specs similar to yours :D. Funny thing is that I had a similar idea in the works for a while but scrapped it.

You can certainly copy the specs of my bass, that's the easy part. I've owned or at least played works from most of the other builders (sometimes many examples)... you see what I'm playing.
;)

Nice looking bass!
Do you have any clips where one can hear the finger sound too?
If there was some I missed it.
Nice looking bass!:)

Thanks.

Here's another clip with more fingerstyle. A lot of it is palm mute but I think you can get a general idea of some of the tones available. I have it set up so if you pluck just a little harder it gives a slap type tone with fingerstyle. Lighten up and it's thicker. Like a 70's Jazz.

This clip is singlecoil mode or humbucker?

If I had to guess I'd say the 3-way coil switch was either in the middle (Humbucker bridge/outer coil neck) or humbucker/humbucker position. The bass hits hard in singlecoils mode and gets thicker with the other settings. Still articulate though. Where the singlecoils mode really comes through is when you pop. It cuts like an Ash 70's Jazz IMO in that mode.

Thanks.

Nice family vibe on that clip and your bass sounds great too.:D
