My dog's last hour

I'm home. That was brutal, I lay next to her on the floor with her head on my arm while they administered the shot. Her eyes never closed, even after she went.

This is the hardest thing I've done since my wife died a little over 3 years ago.

Been there, done that. It hurts. The house will seem empty. But you did the right thing. As time goes on, you will remember her fondly. I drove my little one up a number of years ago. This time, with my 16 year old dog, I used a vet who makes house calls to do this. Bennie never had to leave his home. I was there for him. After it was done, I took a walk, and they transported him for cremation. Much easier than making that drive. My best.
