Just got a tbird and the posts are coming out and the paint is chipping, I will be getting a hipshot replacement, the OG bridge is annoying

Regarding the three point bridges on the Epiphone Jack Casady basses, what would Jack do? It's been almost 30 years, and he still uses the original three point bridges. Good enough for Jack, good enough for me.

Gotta keep that bridge tilted back, Jack. Otherwise if it’s tilted forward it will jack itself out of the body.

Nice thread! I have two basses with the infamous oil rig, and I must say I love it. Very easy to set up once you get the hang of it. I also like how it looks, the way it "hovers" over the body of the bass. As someone who learnt to play on Fenders and whose only experience was with Fender type bridges for the longest time, I always found those rather fiddly to set up. I much prefer the three-point. Silk wrapping on the saddles happens on my Fender basses too. Sonically it's a complete non-issue in my experience. I did have the studs pull out on one of my two three-point equipped basses, due to incorrect setup (it was the first time I worked on a three-point). I put the studs back in and it now holds a setup perfectly with no pulling out. Front screw higher than the back screws is usually advisable.

I am ok with a well setup stock bridge but I did put a Hipshot supertone on my Tbird and I must admit it kicks mucho ass, that bass is a weapon now
