My First Bass

well after a few months of waiting i have my first bass. got it for my birthday. it is a squire P-Bass with a fender rumble 15. i love it. i know it isn't the best or anything but it is great to stop playing the top 4 strings of my acoustic guitar.

really loving it and looking forward to jamming with friends. i already have 2 bands lines up.

anyway thanks for everyones help when i asked questions.

My first bass ever was a Univox Hi-Flyer... Picked it up at a pawn shop in the north when I was like 13... Man I wish I never got rid of that bad boy...

Good call on the Squire by the way, Ive owned a few of those in my time...

My first bass was a fender copy from the 80's i think! had to swap the strings around due to being a lefty :/

my first, (40 something years ago) was a Sears Silver-tone ..it had a neck like a 2x4!

Hey no fair!!!

My first bass was a no-name Jazz copy with a Fender logo sticker placed on the head stock. It was complete crap. The neck was short scale! The pickups were this tinfoil-like-Tesco-Del-Ray sorta thing. Low output, farty tone, terrible playability.

However my next bass was a black Hondo Explorer with one P pickup, baseball bat neck and a case big enough for a keyboard. It wasn't the best, but it sure looked badass in the 80s.

If you're serious about the band line ups (or even jamming with friends for that matter) you're setting yourself up for an EPIC FAIL with that rumble 15 , look into something a bit bigger to really get that low end going

Congrats. The bass will work well for you for at least a few years. The amp won't cut it with a band, but right away you should be spending all your time practicing at home anyway...

Congratulations. There will always be something very special about your "first".

My first bass was a Sekova I bought somewhere on Sunrise Highway way back in the day. That was stolen from my parent's apartment along with the no name amp I had likea year later.

My next bass was a Rickenbacker 4001 bought at Sam Ash in Hempstead.

i'm planning to once i gather the cash. for now we just practice at school with their gear then i write the actual lines with a recording of what we played at school.

Congrats, and welcome to the community! I first bass was a Jazz copy....can't remember the brand for the life of me. It was all downhill from there.....just wait till you get G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome) Stick around here long enough and you will. I think the effects forum is the biggest source of GAS on TB by far. Again...welcome!
