My First Build NBD

Time for some show and tell. I was looking for a productive way to spend my free time while avoiding contact with the outside world and decided to try my hand at building a bass. (Well, a bass body as I already had a lonely neck laying around).

I'd never built much more than a box in highschool woodshop so it was an interesting way to learn a few new skills. While a little rough around the edges, I'm pretty happy with the final result and it plays much better than expected.

Info - Short scale 30", built from multiple pieces of scrap Tasmanian 'Oak' glued together, finished with a Rustoleum rattle can + clear coat and buffed satin with steel wool.

Nice!

Just curious: Are the "oak" body scraps joined via tenons, or just glued butcher-block style?

Thanks!

It's 5 pieces in total, they were all just clamped and glued together. 3 - 135x19mm boards for the bottom half of the body width and 2 - 185x19mm boards as the top. I glued them overlapping like bricks as I figured it would help with stability. Essentially , it's two 19mm thick bodies glued together to make a full width 38mm body.

Strange method I know, but I wanted to use only scrap timber I had laying around.
