My First Good Bass!

My first bass was a Squier with the following specs (not sure what the model was called but bonus points if someone can enlighten me or better yet, post a pic).

- I bought it new in the mid-90's.
- 5-string
- rosewood (or similar) fretboard
- dark red trans finish
- P-shape body
- pearloid guard
- gold hardware
- soapbar pickups

It actually was quite a nice little bass.

2011 Carvin XB75. Very sweet. Before that it was an Ibanez GSR200, which is still serviceable.

My first good bass was my first bass: a 1981 Ovation Magnum. Sounds as good today as it did then.

My 1st good bass was a cream colored Fender Jazz. Was at a pawn shop looking for a case for my POS P-Bass copy. Bought a "heavy" case only to find the Fender inside.

Karma intervened and that bass was stolen from my drummer's house while I was away at college. His parents' homeowner's insurance gave me $700 that I used to buy a brand new 1979 Music Man Sabre that was my only bass for the next 20 years.

Then I discovered bass forums.

My first good bass was the '61 stack-knob in my avatar. It was already refinished in a typical '70s walnut stain. Ben Chafin(former Dean designer and the Ben in Traben )re-finned it in the sunburst above(we were in a an originals band at the time). I paid $450 and a plywood jazz copy(my first crappy bass) for it back in '83.
