My first home build

If I do another I’ll try to remember to do that.
Um, what do you mean if you try another!?. You can't just stop at one now you've teased us with this creation. I'm not saying run before you can walk but it's quite possible you may pick up quite a few commissions if you continue thinking outside the box. It all depends whether you want that or not ;)
What part of the world you based if I may ask?

Good supply of nice domestic woods in that area. And there's Certainly Wood for veneer, both domestic and otherwise...

Hmm - a with headstock version where the headstock is the control cover and the pots come out of the tuner holes? Or the tuners operate the pots out of sight? Yeah the latter would be a bit slow to adjust, but ohhh, so sneaky.... :bassist:

First thing you need to do is visit the Hipshot factory, great place, great friendly folks to even small time builders like me.
Too bad the Rongovian Embassy is no longer around, that used to be another great live music spot just down the road from Interlaken.

Have you considered rounding off that top edge, looks a little sharp to me. Also a good belly curve on the back with help with comfort too.

Great job for just winging it, I'm impressed.

p.s. also cheers for using your own shape and not just making another FSO!

I have considered rounding the head - I need to move the nut so I'll be in the area and will work on that.

I was thinking of stopping by hipshot and asking for factory seconds because I clearly don't care all that much about having things look great but I can see why they wouldn't want crap with their name out in the real world...

I appreciate the wacky ideas you all are giving me. I, uh, do have a pile of headless bridges that I want to at least try out...

I bough a secondhand Hipshot Ric replacement bridge, I needed the saddle screws to be longer on my build so I contacted them. Despite the difference in time zones I had an answer from them waiting in my inbox the next morning, very friendly and helpful and sorted my problem. When you get service like that, you'll always want to use them again.
