Unless you find yourself searching for the mid control on your amp and constantly turning down the VTC, I would not bother swapping. However, if you feel your Sadowsky is a bit too scooped in the mids, and more to the sizzly side versus grindy side for your taste, it's an easy swap that really can make a difference.

I was trying to figure out a way to put a "decision criteria" like this in words and failed. Nice job. I agree.

Also +1 to the description of the blues, and use of the B. I pretty much never play above the 4-5th fret on my B's. I think the E string sounds better for those notes, and is worth dealing with the requirement for a little extra left (or at least fretting) hand mobility to take advantage.

I still prefer the DR HiBeams ultimately. Does it have single-coils or hum-cancelling? If it has the HC's, I HIGHLY recommend you watch out for a deal in the TB classifieds for some SC's. That's what's in mine, and this bass sounds so good it even kills in a mix with dead strings on it.

+1 My MS5 with SC's always surprises me with it's fantastic slap tone in the mix even with completely dead strings. I also agree on the Hi-Beams overall and the B string is the best I've tried.

I used to own an exact duplicate of that bass, only it was a Metro. Definitely an amazing bass, very beautiful. Unfortunately, it was my first attempt at 5 strings, and as good as it was, 5 strings just aren't for me. Enjoy.
