Double Bass My focus is haunted

i plugged my focus in and playe dit for like 5 minutes then the sound stopped and changed to what I thought was RF interefernce. It was making this whirring ghost-like siren like sound that kept repeating over and over again. Im getting no sound from the bass. I tried different speakers and different bass/pickups...still same result. What could this be?

Sounds like a dirty input jack - I had one of the first generation Clarus amps do the same thing. Try something like the solution suggested [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and see if it's an easy fix.

Chris you very well may be right here, as this is a common problem. (Technically referred to as audio rectification, a dirty input jack can make a very effective RF detector, just like a cat's whisker in an old-time crystal radio.)

The best advice in the link you provided is to put the contact cleaner, such as the Caig Deoxit, on a Q-Tip, and avoid spraying it directly into the amp, which can cause other problems.
