I just want to thank you all for an amazing week. I was very nervous signing up (like a new kid a school). I don't play bass nor understand anything you talk about half the time BUT, you are very much welcoming. I know I'm selling some items on here but it goes beyond that with many of you I have spoken to. I cherish the memories you have encountered with my "Grandpa Jess" (Jess Oliver) with his
accomplishments, friendship or both. It's absolutely beautiful! A few times I had tears run down my cheek from the stories. I miss him terribly, but the friendship with you, a part of him still remains, his legacy. I had no intentions of talking to anyone but sell these items, boy was I mistaken! Even when I eventually sell this stuff, I will still be a member. Grandpa's friends are my friends now. I spoke to Dino Monoxelos (Ampeg Brand Marketing Manager at Yamaha) he even spoke highly of this site. So, that's my thank you sappy letter to you all. Time to enjoy a nice fire & smores! :)

I thought you’d fit right in, @Donna78!

Truth is, I’ve never had a chance to play through any of your grandpa’s designs, but they are the sound of bass in the music of my youth, and I’ve heard them countless times. I never knew who the designer was until you joined TB and posted. I’ve had the pleasure to learn about an exceptional, talented, hardworking, lovable man who left a permanent mark on one of my favorite things in life: music.

Bravo that he was such a great family man and grandfather too. Jess Oliver lives on through these shared memories and his contributions to the development of bass guitar. Think of how proud he’d be to read a lot of the posts this week.

Playing the bass guitar is not required to participate in our forum. I haven't touched a bass guitar in nearly 10 years. They let me stay. :)

Jess Olliver was one of those rare individuals who made a lasting impression on the world with his work.

Like so many musicians, I've always loved the sound of the vintsge Ampeg bass amps your grandfather designed on all those legendary recordings in history.

I'll never forget the first time I played bass through a B15 amp. The sound was absolutely amazing. Ever since, it's been THE SOUND OF BASS for me.

O lookey here WOW :woot:what a picture!!! I try to find pictures on here of the B15 but I can't really find any, so this is a real treat!! The PF500/210 is very sweet also!!;) Thank you sir, you made my night haha.. & no the Portaflex would not exist, crazy to think about.
