I've been wanting to build one for a little while....so I did. It took a couple of hours this afternoon. It's Red Oak. I'm planning to stain it. And of course I still have to add the Velcro. I really enjoyed the build. I hope you all like it.

Nice build. I have one that I built from an Ikea slatted shelf. I was torn whether to stain or paint so I just left it natural

In the pocket n' thumpy. So woody, so greasy...
I'd go with an oil based clear coat laquer if it were me. Maybe a gloss or semi gloss so it can be wiped down when it gets nasty from bar floors etc......
Someone suggested straight up Linseed oil. I was told that varnish will show too many scratches with use. Oil won't. Anyone agree?
So I decided on the Linseed oil. It looks pretty good. I like how it has a more natural look and really makes the wood pop. I will post pics later.

So I still need a power supply/brick to get it exactly how I want it. Pedals from guitar are Boss Bass Limiter(LMB3) Enhancer, Empress Compressor sidechained with the HPF Pre Series 3, Boss Bass Overdrive(ODB), lastly the Ampeg SCR-DI. The pedal on the top right is the Digitch JamMan...but its just there for looks right now. Lol. Also, I've just thrown in the ODB and LMB...they are not guaranteed a place on the board yet. The Empress/HPF combo is awesome...special thanks to Zooberwerx for helping me get that sorted out.(see the thread "Post your compressor settings!"
