My Introduction

Hello everyone! I have been lurking for about 2 weeks and thought that I would like to participate on some level.

A bit about me I am 39, i have 3 amazing daughters, 2 grand daughters, and a super wife. Recently I got back into playing bass and have found myself in the music again. In my "about me" section of my profile i have written a detailed course of events that lead me back to this amazing instrument.

I am by no means an artist/professional/aspiring pro (etc.) as some of you are and I currently have the idea that while i enjoy playing by ear I am also looking to learn more of the basics and become a better player. Strictly for my own pleasure. I have no intention of ever performing. Perhaps a jam session once in a while if i can find folks locally who want to just make some good music.

I am currently playing my original Kramer and using a cheapo bass amp just to get some sound...

Well that is me in a nut shell and I am glad to be here. I look forward to learning from you and I hope to contribute in some way....

Welcome to TB! Sounds like you're right about where I was six years or so ago. Beware of saying you have no interest in performing, though! I had fiddled with bass a bit in high school, then trailed off and didn't replace it when it got stolen. 38 years old, bought a cheap Ibanez from craigslist just to fiddle with at home. A few months later, got sick of just playing along to CDs and found some guys to jam with. A couple years after that, playing in my first gigging band. Now I'm out gigging maybe 3-5 times a month.

Howdy! I hope you enjoy this new adventure. I think many of us on this list are from similar backgrounds, older hobbyists with other careers and lives outside of music. So you will fit right in. And don't forget the magic phrase that opens all doors in talkbass land: 'What's the best ____ for metal?'

URRRGGGGGGGG.. last night i went to break out the Bass and start running through some exercises (its been a couple days) and discovered that the nut was broken!!!

turns out my loving cat knocked it over... the kids claimed they told be but i would think that i would recall someone saying they busted my baby..

well off to the local music store (25 miles away) to get her fixed and checked out...
