First of all im a noob so sorry if my question sound stupid.
I REALLY want a Fender p-bass but simpily can't afford one so i was thinking of buying this....

would that be enough to make it a decent instrument or is their anything else ??

Sounds good to me.

I'm just going to say this before everyone else does , but SX is a good Fender copy brand that a lot of Talk Bass-ers have. I personally don't have any experience, but judging from the reactions at TalkBass, the SX seems to be a
good contender for budget conscious Fender bass.

Why do you want to use a Music Man style humbucker, if you what you want is a Fender P?

the pickup you chose is a different kind (not just a different brand) then the one in the bass

you're gonna want to stick to a p pickup if you want to keep the p bass sound

If you didn't like the SX, you probably aren't going to like the Squier Affinity Series any better. (required IMO).



That said... given the modifications you want to make, it would make much more sense (to me anyway) to take one small step up the food chain to the Squier Vintage Modified, which has a decent (although not spectacular) pickup, and better tuners than the Affinity Series. The Classic Vibe 60's Precision is decent too.


The SPB-3 Duncan IS NOT going to sound anything like an American Precision either.
