Very cool mod. Thats the same pickup configuration that Leland Sklar has recorded with for years. Could you post a sound clip?

How do you like the QP in the bridge? I have a double P and was thinking about changing pickups.

pseudocat how does your bass play? i am considering an SX to mod, how good is the neck quality?
That's going to be cool, Ezbass. I look forward to seeing a pic of it when you get it back.
I think you'll like the tone, too. Mine's been a whole lot of fun -- very fat and full, with some zing on top.
Oooh, I like that mod! Love to hear some sound files.
is there any way to put 3 halves of a P pickup together like a 1 1/2, and solo out either the regular P or the reverse P to have a fast comparison?
ive heard both.. but not on the same bass at the same time
I don't have the hardware/software for that at the moment, but it is something I want to look into anyway. Watch this space.
Mine's finished! Here it is in the flesh with the Seymour Duncan vintage added, I also added a Hipshot D Tuner for the full on custom bass. My favourite sound is neck p/up full on, bridge at about 95% (about 30 degrees off full turn) which just adds that little bit of definition. Full on it's a Jazzish bass sound, but with more balls, just what I wanted. I'll still mainly use it with just the neck p/up, but when I need that extra zing I've got it there.

Hmm that D tuner is a bit shiny by comparison.![]()
(old-ass thread, but it got referenced recently so i couldn't resist.)I don't know about the sound but IMHO the double P config is not that great visually, it looks rather "unbalanced".
Nice job anyway.
