My new Aerodyne arrived!!!!

Hey everyone. So here's my mini review of the aerodyne I promised :

Setup

So out of the box the bass wasn't set up too badly. The neck was nice and straight but the strings had a lot of buzz and were extremely close to the frets so I'll probably have to adjust the truss rod a bit.

Build Quality and Condition

As we all know, the Aerodyne is meant to be extremely light. However, it still feels like a very solid bass. The finish is beautiful and the general build quality seems to be of a very high standard. I guess this must be the norm with Fender as even my Squier Deluxe Active IV was quite solid.

Features and Sound

The Aerodyne is equipped with both a P and J pickup. Now on talkbass, there are lots of comments about the J pickup, claiming it is noisy. This is not the case (well at least with my bass). The pickup is extremely quiet (surprisingly quiet actually) and can create decent tones. That being said, I would never solo this pickup as it just doesn't sound as nice as the P or both pickups combined.

Overall

Overall, I would say that this is a lovely bass that looks, plays and sounds amazing. The neck is very fast and the bass feels very solid.

In my opinion, this bass is a solid 9/10

Don't use the truss rod to adjust the action height, only adjust the truss rod to adjust the relief (bow) in the neck. First, if necessary, use the truss rod to get the neck relief correct (Fender site gives you info on the specs), then use the saddles to adjust action height to taste.

If the bass was shipped tuned down (often the case), then when you tune it correctly, the neck will take a day or two to settle. I wouldn't mess with it until it had a few days at full tension.

Hey Major Softie

As you can probably see, I am extremely new to adjusting basses. I always thought you needed to adjust the truss if the string was too close to the 7th when you had a finger on the 1st and 17th. So thats why I said I was gonna fiddle with the truss rod. Now i know not to so thanks for the feedback!
