My New BFR StingRay 5!!!

I unexpectedly purchased this bass late last week. I got such a great deal that I couldn't resist! Well it showed up yesterday and I took some quick pictures on my back deck.

Full disclosure, I'm a huge Ernie Ball Music Man fan and while all of my other basses are great, I think I may have found my new number one.

Just for clarification, it's a StingRay 5 in Cabernet Pearl with an all rosewood neck. That's what makes it a Ball Family Reserve instrument. The pics do not do the finish justice, but I think you guys will get the idea.

All rosewood neck? So they glued a rosewood fingerboard onto a rosewood neck? Cause that looks like two different pieces of wood to me. Is that how it's normally done? I have no clue.

Correct. It's two pieces. You don't see many basses with an all rosewood neck but as far as I know, that's how it's typically done. That's really not the point though, the point is that it's pretty much the most comfortable neck I've ever played.

OK. Well in that case, I picked it up for $1175. Another guy had ordered the bass from the dealer several months earlier, put a hefty deposit down, and when the bass finally came in, the guy didn't have the dough. The dealer had no choice but to make it available for sale. The dealer, already having the deposit, charged me for the difference. End of story. Most dealers are selling a similar bass for over $2,000. Let the hating begin.

Right on, I was curious. Beautiful bass, I love the grain pattern on the back of the neck, stunning.
