My New Custom Zon!!!

It's taken me two years but I finally got my Zon. It's a Sonus 4 string with a california walnut top and some other kind of walnut back with a layer of maple in the middle. The pickup is a Villex with a passive mid and treble control on it. Originally I didnt' want the treble on there but it was too bright without it so I had Joe mount it inside the cavity.

tonally it's a perfect balance between warmth and punch. With the mid all the way up it gets nice and growly. I usually run it about half way which gives it a really nice, smooth response. Center frequency for the mid is about 800hz.

the zon neck in my opinion is the best available. The shape is really comfortable to play, string tension is just perfect.

I'll try to get a better picture but here it is.

I kick myself all the time for selling my '97 Sonus 5/1 in midnight blue. What a beautiful funk machine it was! I love the top on this Sonus of yours and I hope you get many years enjoyment out of it! Just don't sell yours the way I did, a Zon is a thing to behold.

Absolutey beautiful!!! I sold off my 93' Zon Sonus 4 string converted to passive with the original Barts singlecoils...that was/is my favorite bass I've ever owned...I was dumb and after a 6 string...for why I don't remember.

You are right...the necks are amazing! Best of luck with your beautiful Zon machine!
