My new GB Shuttle 6.0 (pics)&Initial Review

I'd bet that in many cases they just don't know what's available now. I'm always getting bassists coming up to me at gigs, shocked at the disconnect between the size and sound of my rig.

one challenge is that in most retail music stores, the "bass salesman" is actually a guitar player and they have little knowledge of trends in bass gear.

Trying to convince these folks that there is indeed demand for a particular product is very difficult.

lol, I drove my Eclipse to Cumberland to play with Ron Holloway Saturday... with GF and luggage. It's coll to pull up in front of the venue and pop the trunk.

It sure is... that's what I've been doing for years... and as small as my rigs have been, I've been able to go even smaller.
;)

On the flip side, I had to play through a backline that was "challenging" at best tonight:rolleyes:. I brought my amp but didn't bother to switch it out. I ran through an Ampeg B2R into an SWR Goliath III and a 1-18 cab. I had to work to keep it from sounding as bad as it did. With the other bassists it was a muffled mess, I at least got it to cut through by killing the overabundance of nondescript lows. It's funny that my butt-high rig smokes this 6' monstrosity in volume and tone.

On the bright side, I drove my Miata into Baltimore for the gig... with everything (bass/amp head/stand/clothes) in the trunk.
:D

As some who's banged their head against that proverbial wall one time too many, I agree.
:D

It looks like I have just booked 4 months in OC Md... I'll get to take (need to take) 2 rigs. We split weeks in the inner club and a few weeks on on the beach. Looks like the 120/uber410 will get put on to action. I'll use the 6.0/212 on the beach and the 410 in the club. Yahoooooo 120 days in a row and I get a free tan. Life just got a bit better.lol

You really need to add a Valenti bass to your stable Dennis.....but after he finishes mine :D

Yeah, I need A vacation. I also need time to start scripting my video outlines and book. And don't forget a lot of time to go fishing.:hyper:
I am also hoping that I can use that time to book a clinic schedule for October. This gives us time to get it all together so I come off the beach and go do what I do best...clinics.

:bassist:that is cool:cool:

I have the 3.0 now running through a new 4 ohm Avatar Neo 410. Only had the rig a week or so. I got it from AMS when they only had the 3.0s. They now have 6.0 as well. All the talk and revues these days are pro for the 6.0. Hardly anything for the 3.0. Did I make a mistake? Have any of you had the 3 and returned it for the 6? I've never been a tube guy, mostly played Hartke and set both pre's flat back then so I don't actually need that feature. But the extra juice might be helpful and I do like the idea of the foot switch for the 3 filters. So if it were you would you stay where I am or upgrade?

A little more info. I'm in a 5 peice band, 2 guitars and keys, electronic Yamaha drums and full FOH (Top40, classic rock). I've gone through a LMII and LM FI and currently have a GK700rbII in the last 6 months (help). None of them moved me much.
Thanks all.

The 3.0 gets some attention here, but not as much just because of the lesser power. My opinion is that if they both had the same power, it would be as popular as the 6.0. I bought the 6.0, but I likley would have bought the 3.0 if it was 600 watts. I prefer the FET sound myself.

I got the 3.0 first and ran into the limiter almost immediately. Ended up with a 6.0 and am very happy so far. Still haven't gigged it though. Saturday I'm taking the 6.0-12T combo to my piano trio gig that's fairly low volume. Will report back if interested.

If you need the extra juice, it's better to have it and not want it than to need it and not have it. It can save kicking yourself on a gig later.
