Hi,
Long time reader, but just recently I applied as a member of Talkbass.
I am a 55 year old bass player from the Netherlands. I started a few years ago playing guitar. Played two years in a 90s rockband, and know all the power chords
. After a while I discovered that I like the basslines more than the fancy guitar licks. So, last year I switched to the bass.
After I finished the bass method book of Ed Friedland I started to follow lessons. Beside these lessons of the teacher I study the books of Janek Gwizdala (and others, I admit, I have a fetish for bass/music instruction and study books).
I have only two bass guitars but as a minimalist it is still one too much... I like my Squier Classic Vibe Jazz bass (with flats), but I make more hours on my 40 year old Westone Thunder One with tapewound strings.
Let me finish with quote of Jaco Pastorius: 'Music is the only thing keeping the planet together.'
