My New Studio Build (perhaps overly detailed)

Since I'm delayed on the construction process I decided to scratch my builder's itch (they should make a cream for that) by ordering all of the parts for my new guitar build. Going with a very modern approach to a Telecaster.
Warmoth body (Butterscotch blonde over swamp ash)
Warmoth neck (Clear satin nitro over birdseye maple neck and board, stainless steel 6150 frets, white GraphTech TUSK XL Earvana compensated nut, Gotoh SG38 tuners)
Black/white/black pickguard
Chrome Babicz bridge

The electronics are where it gets nutty (for a Telecaster). I'm using Seymour Duncan pickups. Specifically a Vintage Stack in the neck and a Lil 59 in the bridge. Both of these are 4-conductor pickups, so they can be individually coil split to get a little closer to true single coil tonality. I'm hoping to incorporate the coil split function for each pickup into a push-push pot (neck coil split on the volume pot, and bridge coil split on the tone pot). I'll also be including an out-of-phase switch via a mini toggle placed between the two pots. Lastly I'm doing the 4-way switch mod. A typical Tele has a 3-way switch that goes neck-solo, both-parallel, bridge-solo. The 4-way version affords an additional both-series option that's hotter, darker, and more mid heavy than the parallel setting. All told that will allow for 24 different pickup combinations irrespective of volume and tone settings. I'll be using 500K pots rather than 250K as these pickups are intentionally darker than a traditional Tele, and the higher load will allow for a bit more brightness on tap when I want it. If I could find 500K, push-push, no load pots I would use those, but no one seems to have them in stock, or even available period.

Should be a very versatile guitar for my studio.

Just confirmed with my contractor; They're coming out to build the substructure on Tuesday morning, rain or shine. The inspector will be signing off on it Wednesday morning. After that I'll be buttoning it back up until the weather clears. At this point we're anticipating the beginning of April. Not exactly the news I was wanting to hear, but I'd rather wait than have a bunch of water trapped in the walls that I have to deal with.

That all means that I have to fix the low point on the north side of the wall this weekend. That should be a pretty easy task as it's not very far off. Some light work with the mattock, a little rock raking, a few courses with the hand tamper... Easy peasy. Peazy? Peazey? Peasey? :p

Neighbors are cool with it. Patients are always asking my wife how things are going, and are generally just curious.

I just finished a conversation with my building guy. He confirmed my suspicions that the settling of the crushed rock was on the high side of what is tolerable. We agreed to put the whole thing on hold until I can get some more crushed rock out to fill in the settled areas so we can use less blocking. What's one more delay for this project huh? :p
 
To quote myself from earlier in the thread.

To be specific my concern was the floor structure resonating like a drum head when all was said and done. There will be tongue and groove wood decking on top of the steel floor joists, then Green Glue, then DensDecking, then underlayment, then flooring. That all works great for airborne sound transmission, but doesn't eliminate flanking paths for foot falls into the open joist cavities which will be sitting right on top of my newly prepared foundation material (i.e. the crushed rock I just compacted). I was planning on backfilling with sand which would be heavy and expensive, but it turns out mineral wool can be installed on grade with zero moisture or mold concerns. It will do a more than sufficient job of eliminating that drum head type resonance in the cavity while walking around in the structure, it will keep impacts while drumming from creating resonance that will end up in mics, as well as serving as yet another sound isolation component.
