I purchased this a couple of years ago on the East Coast and brought it home to SF where it saw only light use due to it's excessive weight, attributed to the heavy Northern Ash Body and Kahler Tremolo Bridge which made it seem like playing a boat anchor.
Luckily my local luthiery wiz is Rich Hoeg formerly of Modulus. He assisted me in locating a NOS mahogany body with a 5A Quilt top from a source associated with Modulus.
Rich had this sent to his preferred paint shop to enable an SF Giants themed Orange finish which goes pretty nicely with the black hardware and Graphite/Phenolic Neck. Then he did the assembly and set up.
Bass is still fairly heavy but a few lbs lighter than it's previous incarnation. The neck (IMHO) was totally worth this effort cause it's super fun and thin.
Enjoying this thing alongside my Q5, Dlx American J and the upright I most often play.
Someday I'd like to acquire a maple neck and board 5 string and a good vintage Kay Upright that isn't crazily overpriced.
