My peavey 410 TVX help with a speaker question!

I just got a used 410 TVX. My question is- I am getting low end distortion, like bad speaker. I noticed one of the four speakers moves in and out a lot farther than the other three. They seem to bounce pretty normal, the 4th one moves a LOT! I cannot see a tear in the cone and when I removed it, I cannot notice any obvious damage. Is this speaker the culprit? It's not the amp head, already eliminated that question. THANKS!

And the distortion comes in when I am pumping pretty good. But the sound level is not that high, only about a 2 on the volume knob.

Maybe the speaker that's moving a lot is the only one working and it's moving the others making them look like they're working. The cabinet could be wired wrong.

Or, that speaker is just damaged, like it could have a broken/unglued section of spider or surround.

Look in the port on the back and verify that all the speakers are connected.
Get a multi-tester and connect it to the other end of a speaker cable plugged into the cab.
Does it read somewhere around 8 ohms?

I'm having the same issue with a Peavey 410TX. Bottom left speaker moves a lot and the other three aren't moving. Has the scratchy distortion you mentioned also. Did you ever resolve this problem and how? Thanks, Yojon1212

Use a battery, an AAA with 1,5 V is enough (as I use 9 Blocks) and hold + and - to the wires of every single speaker. They should move to the same direction.

If one of the speakers is not moving, it's out of
order. You should be able to move the cone ofa speaker in and out by hand, without any scratchy noise from the speaker. If there is something scratchy, the speaker is out of order.
