@Katoosie the way you describe everything in your OP is exactly why I went and bought myself a super tiny li'l pedalboard; it's got room for no more than 4 pedals*, which are on there now. And one is a tuner, so really 3 pedals! If I want something new, I have to really decide if it'll be worth displacing something that's currently on there, which it thus far has never been. Too much choice really made things complicated for me, so I've narrowed it down to the bare minimum and as a result the problem is largely solved for me. I've learned to be happy with less, and squeeze every ounce out of each of those pedals, which I may otherwise have been unable/unwilling to spend the time on.

Best of luck on your hunt for the sounds that inspire you! In my case, when it came to the one thing I couldn't find out-of-the-box, I went and got someone to build it for me



*This board was built well before the current nano pedals came into existence. The less said of them, the better for my pedal-zen state!

Totally fair. I'm old and pretty jaded, but I don't gravitate towards that aspect much at all by now, and I like it that way!

I don't gig, nor do I ever plan to so when I do use my pedals, they're usually visible to me. Sometimes I put them up on a chair of table in front of me, more like a console kinda thing.

Also, my pedals live on my desk.

There's the takeway I was looking for! Floor pedals have never made a great deal of of sense to me for what I personally do on bass, but OTOH I also used to gig on guitar frequently and have had all sorts of stuff on the floor in that context.

Thanks for indulging me @Katoosie , I feel at least a tiny bit smarter today in some sense.

This thread inspired me to pick up some mods with artwork. Just received the Jam Pedals Ripple Bass Phaser and Waterfall Bass Chorus

Normally, I never use pedals. Reasons: No clutter, less cables or maybe just laziness on my part! .

However, I did pick up this guy.

A processor more than a pedal. (Hope this doesn’t disqualify me). I’ve been using it in online forums. Jamkazam or Jamulus and and a couple of rock gigs. Some tweaking was needed, but I’ve found one setting especially which really sounds great. But one gadget on the floor is enough for me.

Ok I’ll add back to this. My personal pet peeve is I suffer from GAS a lot. Point in case got rid of the boss ceb3 chorus for a bass clone. Realised miss the ceb3 and just bought one again

Depending on your amp, using the effects send/return can completely transform the sound of your pedals.

I recently started doing just that with my Mesa TT-800 and found "New Life" in a few of my pedals.

I am using my GT-1000Core into the front end. Then I put my Darkglass B3k in the effects loop and what a huge difference. Same with my DOD Boneshaker.

Going to try it today with my Bearfoof Queen Bee(Bluberry Clone). I am expecting satisfactory results.

I'm just starting to contemplate building a few pedals to sell, but maybe not for bass so much. The artwork aesthetic is a huge mystery to me, honestly. Same with many if not most amps as well. What's your preference here?

I love cool artwork on Pedals. Sure no-one else will really see it but it's a big plus for me.
I also like the CAL Grizzly and IdiotBox Blower-Box for the LED's being Eyeballs.
