my problem with the daddario’s poor silk choice

so this is what happened to my A string. Its been 4 months since ive purchased these Daddario tapes. And its been like this for a month. I tried everything but that silk wont just stay with the string. And because of this, the A string wont stay in tune, i cant get close to tune it to A, it will just pop out. Any help? Is there anything i can do to fix it or is it just trash?

Judging from the end of it, it looks like it unraveled internally (you can see the core wire and the nylon from the end). Did you put a 90 degree bend on the string before you cut it?

i dont think so.. but is there anyway to fix it?

Without looking at the string physically, my guess is no.

should i try cutting a little of the string which doesnt have silk on it? but maybe silk will unravel even more if i do so. idk

If you reach out to D'Addario and let them know the string unraveled there's a very good chance they'll send you a replacement.

probably, with the tapered tuning posts, you just need less windings... did you cut the string before installing it?
