My Ray 35 Just Arrived...

I just succomed to GAS and ordered a MM 5 string Bongo. They discontinued the Desert Gold color - so had to go for it while I could.

Like I needed another 5 string. Not that I need another 4.

Do you mean they are arranged Bass Mid Treble, instead of Treble Mid Bass, or are you saying that you have to turn them counterclockwise to boost, clockwise to cut?

The quality of this bass has truly blown me away. U played it through a GK MB2-500 into a GK 410RBH. The sheer power of this bass is remarkable.

The finish was flawless. I especially like the nice touch of a matching headstock.

Everything was rock solid, and I wouldn't have guessed it was built overseas if I didn't already know.

Simply put, this is on a level very close to the American stingrays. I have two shows next weekend where I plan to use the Ray 35 exclusively. I think I will have a better idea of the capabilities of the bass after that.

Then the problem lies with your MIA Stingray. Treble control should be towards the neck, bass control towards the bridge. All of the Musicman basses I've played were like that.

Some GC's already have it, The one i tried out was at guitar center in las vegas, i know the supervisor of the bass dept. he ordered it 3 weeks ago and now it is hanging on their wall, and man did it play nice and sound great, I a/b'd it with the american models, and it was was hard to tell the difference, the only difference was that it did not have the compensating nut, and the bass felt a little lighter, other than that it played and sounded just like a stingray 5, the quality was probably the best that i have ever seen on a cheeper import bass, it felt rock solid.

Maybe I'm confused with my control. I need to check my MIA now. I guess it shows i usually do all of my EQ adjusting on my amp. Anyway....
I also wanted to say I was pleasantly surprised with the tension and playability of the B string, especially considering the 34" Scale.

Also, the Set-up out of the box was top notch. All t needed was to have the strings put back in tune and it was ready to go.

After using it for practice last night I am still thoroughly impressed. I does hold well to the stingray and honestly, I don't know if I would be able to tell the two apart in a blind test. Bottom line: two thumbs way up!
