My Sandberg (pic)

Well I've been on here a while...figured I should put a pic of my prized bass up

It's a 2006 Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 20th Anniversary Edition, and is really in need of a polish and a set-up, but the picture doesn't show that up luckily :).

It nails the MusicMan sound pretty well, I tried a single 'bucker Basic, but after playing the two pickup Ken Taylor I just had to have it. It has a light, alder body and heavily figured birdseye maple neck and fingerboard which I haven't captured because my camera's macro function is pretty poor.

As far as I know, the fancier tops don't put up the price a lot...in fact I think the high-gloss finish I have on mine is more expensive, I just couldn't walk past the cream finish. They look particularly good with the coccobollo top or whatever it's called lol.

I'm a sucker for fancy woods and natural finishes. I've seem Thomann has an Imbuia top, that really tickles my fancy. But I can't testdrive it. Thomann has a return policiy though.

Yeah, I've noticed good deals on Thomann, and you can't really go wrong I don't think. Neck is fairly chunky, slightly thinner than a P I think, spacing is fairly wide, but very comfortable. This 5 caught my eye on the Sandberg site and if I get the funds may be alongside it:

Chunky is fine. I've been playing warwicks, and that's no problem.

You see, that one above just doesn't do it for me.

I really wish I could try one of them. Another bass that intrigues me and is strangely similar in design to the Bullet or the Ken Taylor custom, is the Clover XPression 15.5. Mahogany / walnut, J/MM Delano electronics, bolt on maple/rosewood, ... Unfortunately again, they are also a rare sight, which leaves me wondering. Are they actually as good as they look on paper?

Here's mine,

the number 2873. the first imbuia C-PM with matching headstock. I had to send it back to receive a real matching headstock, the one in this picture taken from their website is the "first" version. The bass I finally got without the slightest arguments got all the features I wanted.
