Just had a new Special bass shipped to me last night and really got to start playing it today. It's a new Music Man Stingray Special from the December 2020 BFR series. This one features a lightweight Okoume body with rosewood fretboard and roasted flame maple neck. The electronics are passive with a push-pull volume boost, tone, and rotary knob to choose between parallel, single coil, and series. The neck is also a SLO Special neck which I believe means it is slimmer like a Sterling model neck. Here are some pics:
Here it is joining the other Stingray Specials:
This bass is very light and I am curious what the weight actually is compared to my others. It's definitely the lightest bass I have ever owned. Still sounds like a Stingray with the passive electronics too but it is a bit different.
