so i opened up the pickup and noticed the white wire was two and was tied and taped with electrical tape. the black wire was also. Could this cause a weak conncetion/low output ?

Theres no reason to bump your thread every 5 minutes.
If they are twisted and taped, it could cause a problem. Solder them and heat shrink them up and report back to us.

I've twisted and taped many times before. A dab of solder probably wouldn't hurt, but electrical tape is really unlikely to become undone inside a control cavity.
Its about connect quality. Twisted wiring may be functional, but not fully if the connection is poor. For instance, a poor crimp connection on a speaker wire can cause up to 3db loss.
