An interesting thing comes to light here re different attitudes toward instruments by players. Neither is right or wrong, but they're so different. In my case, I find a bass I like and I stick with it. It becomes a very personal thing, and as I said earlier, there's a connection through the soul once you've played and worked with an instrument for years/decades. Hell I still have my '68 Tele! Others look at their instruments for what they actually are - a slab of wood with wire strung on it. So they'll happily swap and trade around and buy new then sell, whatever. And if they lose an instrument they had for a while, it's truly no big deal other than financial. Certainly a more realistic view, but I can't relate and I know others cannot as well. So, as always, to each his own!
