My Synthy Fuzz Experience

Hello everybody,

I recently went to my favorite guitar store looking for a synth new fuzz box. I wanted to try the Soundblox MWBD, but they were sold out. I played the silicon Malekko B:Assmaster, the Black Cat Bass Octave Fuzz, and the Tech 21 red ripper. The B:Assmaster and Black Cat both sounded farty and sloppy. Playing them made me lose all my definition, and they seemed to merge all my notes into one distorted sound, and the harmonic function on both was just irritating. However, the Red Ripper could do synth and normal fuzz all well with excellent tone and definition. Needless to say, I walked very happily with the Tech 21. Just thought I'd post this to help anyone in the situation I was in.

I got a Malekko BassMaster Germanium as soon as I have time to test it I'll leave a post here

Same situation as you and then finally got my hands on a Red Ripper....AMAZING!

Brassmaster clones are not what you should look for if synthy tone is your goal. they are completely different beasts and sound awesome for right applications.
synth fuzz = gated fuzz (well, almost always).
or you can get Oxide and have everything

I had heard good things about the oxide, but I didn't want to buy anything online, only what I'd played in person.
Also, a quality gated fuzz for the same price as the ripper, I could not find.
