Mike Gordon
James Jamerson
Phil Lesh
Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads--her basslines remind me of a big happy animal romping around)
Stevie Wonder (yeah, he plays synth bass--but his lines on "Boogie On Reggae Woman" "Golden Lady" and many others stand with the finest work of the best "real" bassists)

these are guys i really like to listen to, i might have played like one to two songs by them, but i really like them, i find Rage's bassist was my original enfluence, maybe thats why i play nothing like him now....

The 5 bass players whov influenced me the most on electric are (in no order)

-Christian McBride (this guy made me believe u can play jazz on the electric)
-James Jamerson
-Duck Dunn (even though hes the exact opposite of jamerson)
-Larry Gramm/ Louis Johnson (tie)
-Paul McArtney

Mad props to the guy who said Stevie Wonder, that guy can play synth bass better than most bass players

also, id love to include what Pino Palladion does w/ d'angelo, he is one funky player

and also Hub from the roots
