Mysterious Charvel Bass ID?

Hi all. I'm not primarily a bassist so please bear with me. I've had this bass for a while and always assumed it was some kind of stock 80s Charvel.
But I can't seem to find anything on the internet that looks exactly like it.
The old black plastic pickguard (which only covered the cavity where the knobs and jack go) broke, and I did the quick, ugly fix seen here so my son could continue using it in his punk rock band.
Most of the 80s Charvel basses I've seen don't have a pickguard at all, and/or have another pickup near the bridge.
There's no serial number anywhere on the bass and the writing under the backplate makes me think it might be custom made. Any insights or wild guesses would be much appreciated.
Also - if anyone knows where I could find a proper pick guard replacement, I'd appreciate it!

Looks to me like a parts bass using a Charvel neck.

i don't see a rear route on the body. that would suggest the body was front-routed; however, i don't see any pickguard holes. that would suggest the body was refinished. i suggest pulling the cavity covers from the front to see what sort of routing is underneath. then, one might be able to look for a suitable pickguard.

with all the mounting holes in that neck butt, i would be surprised to learn that particular body was the first one that neck was ever attached to.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah - there's no rear routing, so I guess that rules out that it could be a Charvel body? The original pickguard was the same shape as the quick fix I put there but so far I can't find anything that shape. I'll keep looking.

Got a charvel surfcaster (avatar) and had a charvette. I know the decals changed but that doesn’t look right for a mid 80’s neck. The decal doesn’t look like it’s in the right place. I think it’s a 70’s neck actually.
86 on the heel could be when it was salvaged and resurrected into a parts bass. The decal looks too small, probably of a guitar. It has “made in USA” in black, that was used 1980 - 83.
Also on more looks at your pics. it has Schaller tuners. Mmmm
Charvel used Schaller tuners from around 2000.
So it’s probably not a Charvel neck (if tuners are original) and a charvel guitar logo was put on at some stage by someone.
WOW. Having said all that I could be wrong.
