Finally got around on getting this bass fixed, painting it a color I really wanted, full DIY, except for electronics rewiring and setup, custom pickguard, and different strings! It's a beaut. It's not perfect, but I love it.

Finish is Rustoleums "glitter" spraypaint in Turquoise, with Rustoleum metallic cobalt blue as a base. Finishing it off with lots of clear coats.

    Pickup is tv jones thunderblade.

Neck has a shot of tinted nitro and a custom decal. Tuners are vintage style reverse keys. Strings are La Bella copper whites.

Nice job on the refin... looks great from here! I also like the pickguard, (where'd you get the material), as well as the kids' shoes!!

Thanks for the awesome replies! I got the pickguard material from ebay, just searched for "yellow tortoise shell" or something like that. Warmoth has an even better looking one, kind of like Serek uses on their basses.. but for $45 bucks a blank, I couldn't justify the purchase. I did knock out the gloss on the pickguard...looks more "pro".

My kid was super excited with the finish. He couldn't wait for me to play it!

Still gettin' used to the tapewounds, but so far so good.

Love the sparkle finish and the color blue always seems to really pop with it.

    Congrats!
In the end, that's all that really matters anyway.

And fix that gosh-darn stand before it starts to eat into the beautiful finish. ;)

To be honest I really don't use that stand :smug: I hang all of my 3 basses. It was just used for "propping" purposes ha!

Finish is far away from being perfect...for whatever reason the clear coat hasn't cured all the way. It polished, but it's definitely not 100% cured.

  13. I personally would go parchment or cream, but that's the beauty of Partscasters

I thought about just leaving the stock one on, which is white, but I saw this type of material on a serek, and I tried to recreate it on my bass. So far I like it!

Wow, very nice sharp looking bass.
I suggest anodized gold pickguard and a chrome thumbrest to make the bass has clean but still sharp looking.
