Hey! A Cabronita with a TV Jones Thunderblade owned by a guy who would do a DIY refinish on it... this all sounds vaguely familiar.
Any chance you're the guy who made one of the only Thunderblade demo videos I could find on youtube a few years ago? If so, thanks! I watched it on repeat for a while there while trying to decide.
This looks great, by the way, well done!
Very Nice! I repainted my #1, with rattle can paint After recieving a dirty pink bass that was described as faded red! DIY'd into a great sounding Bass, I also had a blast, modding & fixing little things as needed. painting was the hardest part but most rewarding, a lot of patience & sanding/polishing! Good Job, love the sparkle! Finally got around on getting this bass fixed, painting it a color I really wanted, full DIY, except for electronics rewiring and setup, custom pickguard, and different strings! It's a beaut. It's not perfect, but I love it.
Finish is Rustoleums "glitter" spraypaint in Turquoise, with Rustoleum metallic cobalt blue as a base. Finishing it off with lots of clear coats.
Pickup is tv jones thunderblade.
Neck has a shot of tinted nitro and a custom decal. Tuners are vintage style reverse keys. Strings are La Bella copper whites.

You did a beautiful job on that bass. I'd love to see a step-by-step article or video. on how you did it.
Gorgeous! That’s right up there with a factory G&L finish for the nicest sparkle effect I’ve seen. Great job! Hope it plays as well as it looks.
Thanks for the huge compliment.
Sweet paint job you did that with a spray can? Finally got around on getting this bass fixed, painting it a color I really wanted, full DIY, except for electronics rewiring and setup, custom pickguard, and different strings! It's a beaut. It's not perfect, but I love it.
