Hey! A Cabronita with a TV Jones Thunderblade owned by a guy who would do a DIY refinish on it... this all sounds vaguely familiar.
Any chance you're the guy who made one of the only Thunderblade demo videos I could find on youtube a few years ago? If so, thanks! I watched it on repeat for a while there while trying to decide.

I've always LOVED sparkle finishes...always wanted to try one in silver or gold.
But the blue looks really nice. And I dig the contrast of the yellow guard!

Very Nice! I repainted my #1, with rattle can paint After recieving a dirty pink bass that was described as faded red! DIY'd into a great sounding Bass, I also had a blast, modding & fixing little things as needed. painting was the hardest part but most rewarding, a lot of patience & sanding/polishing! Good Job, love the sparkle!
Sanding is super rewarding, although I think the final polish is the cherry on top. My finish is still in need of polishing, but I'm playing it as it is for the moment. Super busy right now, trying to get out of this covid crisis.
You did a beautiful job on that bass. I'd love to see a step-by-step article or video. on how you did it.

I was so surprised with the rustoleim glitter effects spraycan. I would like the flake size to be a little bit bigger, but there are limitations using spray cans obviously. I actually was going to apply tje flake in the same way G&L does it...which is apply a base coat, and just throw handfuls of glitter onto the tacky finish until full coverage, let dry and then clear coat. But found it would be too messy. Thanks for the huge compliment.

Was it a raw wood body or did you have to strip an existing finish off it? I’ve been thinking of a refinish for one of my cheap guitars, just to learn how to do it, but stripping the poly off is really putting me off.
Absolutely love the color. Had a New ‘68 Plymouth Roadrunner in that almost same color
